The Narwhal is s type of whale , also known as the unicorn of the sea, that lives all year in the Arctic. They have two teeth and one of them grows upwards, through their lip, and into a spiral tusk that can be up to 8.8 feet long. Scientists are not quite sure of the tusk's purpose, but they think it may be for attracting mates or battling rivals when looking for mates. The males' tusks are much more pronounced, where as the females' are often much smaller. The males use this feature to aid in survival, especially their good traits, because the males with the best tusks will be able to reproduce more often and pass on their favorable genes.
